Haiti Earthquake Update Our Orphanage in Cabaret survived the quake. Our children are fine. A part of our perimeter wall collapsed, but we are offering our facility as a shelter to those who need it. Right now our main need is monetary donations. We have a system in place to get funds down quickly to meet the immediate needs.  Read more...

New Work Update

The church year ending in September of 2007 has been a good one for new starts in the Jacksonville Baptist Association. Four new starts have been reported for the year:  Faith Family Fellowship, Randy Wilson, pastor; Shades of Grace Community Church, Dwayne Shepherd, pastor; The North Church, Tim Regal, pastor; True North Church, Jeremy Blythe, pastor.

Among the exciting things that have been happening in church planting in this association is the growing number of ethnic churches.  In recent years, in addition to Hispanic and African American churches, we now have several Haitian churches, an Ethiopian church, an Asian India Church, a Romanian church, Korean churches, a Cambodian  church, a Brazilian church.

Our greatest need in church planting is for existing churches to make worship space available for these new churches until they can secure a place to meet.  Should your church be willing to help in this manner, please contact Art Taylor, New Work Director at your earliest opportunity.

Pray for these new congregations and their pastors.  Invite them to speak in your worship services.  I will gladly share their names and phone numbers.

New Work

Establishing new churches within the association comes under the title of "New Work". The "New Work" office assists churches and individuals who want to start a new church with resources in the following areas: demographic studies, technical and financial guidance, assistance in finding legal help, affiliation with the association, strategic planning and other areas.

Conflict Management

The association has members on its staff with many years of education and experience in helping churches and individuals work through conflict. From individual counseling to consultations that involve the entire congregation, the staff is available to provide this free assistance.

Demographic Studies

At no cost to the local church, extensive demographic studies of a church's community are available upon request. These studies provide information about housing, population projections, income, race and psychographics.
